John Carpenter Discusses HALLOWEEN Timeline

We’d previously heard that the upcoming Halloween reboot would completely ignore anything post-Halloween II, but now – from the mouth of the legendary John Carpenter – it looks as if the return of Michael Myers could actually ignore anything other than the original 1978 movie.

Speaking to Stereo Gum, the Horror Master explained, “I don’t know how to describe it. It’s almost an alternative reality. It picks up after the first one and it pretends that none of the others were made. It’s gonna be fun. There’s a really talented director and it was well written. I’m impressed.”

Of course, the events of Halloween II followed directly on from ‘The Night He Came Home’, aka Carpenter’s first Halloween. Now though, it seems as if this relaunch for the franchise will seemingly ignore Halloween II and simply just follow on from The Shape’s ’78 debut.

With Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie Strode and Judy Greer joining the action as Laurie’s daughter Karen, the early word on the film reads:

Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Written by David Gordon Green and Danny McBride, and to be directed by Green, the to-be-titled new Halloween effort is currently set for an October 2018 release.
