Movie News

We know this isn't on many people's radars as of yet, but we guarantee that by the end of this first trailer it'll be fighting amongst the likes of TDKR and PROMETHEUS to get to the top of your 'most anticipated' list of 2012. And if it doesn't... then you're just plain not a fan of 'awesome'.

We'll not spoil anything if you're coming to this new, just trust us and watch asap!...

Told you.

Here's the official synopsis to aid you in deciphering what we just saw...

Beyond the Black Rainbow is a Reagan-era fever dream inspired by hazy childhood memories of midnight movies and Saturday morning cartoons. Cosmatos brings a bold, Kubrickian vision to the screen in stunning detail in this sci-fi fable of a young woman imprisoned in an experimental laboratory and the enigmatic scientist who is her captor. Set in a futuristic 1983, Elena finds herself held against her will in a mysterious facility under the watchful eye of the sinister Dr. Barry Nyle. Pushed to her limits, Elena is left with no choice but to navigate an escape from her labyrinthine prison, in the process revealing its hidden secrets.

BEYOND THE BLACK RAINBOW is the debut film from Canadian filmmaker Panos Cosmatos (an alias, surely?!), which has steadily gained much buzz as it played the festival circuit throughout last year. There's still no release date, but we expect that since Magnet Releasing have now secured distribution, it'll only be a matter of weeks before an announcement. Can't wait.
