Movie News

Platinum Studios the original publisher of COWBOYS AND ALIENS in its comic book form, are getting ready to bring another of their titles to the screen.

THE WEAPON was created by Platinum Studios CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and he has announced that he will produce the movie adaptation. THE WEAPON was written by author Fred Van Lentem and concerns martial arts enthusiast Tommy Zhou who builds a device that can create objects from pure energy. He is a bit of a showman though, and makes up a story about being raised by a secret order that taught him how to form weapons from his own energy and thus calls himself The Weapon. The ability makes him the target of an age old order who is convinced he has unlocked some ancient mystical techniques.

No word on directors or anything else yet, Platinum Dunes seem to be keeping things in house after their experience through the development mill with COWBOYS AND ALIENS. The premise certainly sounds interesting and hopefully whoever eventually comes aboard won’t just turn it into another run of the mill action movie.
