Tom Holland Confirms SPIDER-MAN Trilogy

It’s been long-believed that Tom Holland’s Wall-crawler would be getting his own trilogy of Spider-Man movies, and now the star has moved to confirm that news.

Previously, only the one sequel had been officially announced to next month’s Spider-Man: Homecoming despite it known that Holland had a six-picture deal to play ol’ Web-head.

Speaking to AlloCine, Holland enthused, “Yes, there is what we call the arc of the character. There is still a lot of room for Peter Parker and Spider-Man, especially, to grow in the next two movies. He’s definitely not the finished article by the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming and I really look forward to exploring the different ways he can grow up and… go through puberty, I guess. It’s going to be an exciting couple of movies.”

Clarifying that there is indeed a plan for a trilogy of Spidey films, Holland added, “There will be a Spider-Man 2 and 3. Yeah, well now you know. Sorry Marvel. Whoops!”

This follows the established formula that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had for some of its bigger heroes, with Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor all with their own trilogies (well, once Thor: Ragnarok arrives this October), plus plans in place for the Guardians of the Galaxy to get the same treatment.

It was previously believed that Holland’s Spider-Man would get his own trilogy of films plus three appearances in Avengers-led efforts which, following his debut in Captain America: Civil War, would include next year’s Avengers: Infinity War and its to-be-titled 2019 follow-up.

Up next for Holland’s Spidey is Spider-Man: Homecoming, of course, which swings into UK cinemas from July 7th.
