Josh Gad to Play The Penguin?

Movie News

Whilst this doesn’t exactly confirm anything, it’s most definitely something to keep your eye on...

At the start of last month, Frozen and Beauty and the Beast's Josh Gad sent online tongues a-wagging after posting a picture of The Penguin on his Twitter page. Ever the presumptuous lot, comic book fans (and many of us here at Moonbase Alpha) took it that this could well mean that Gad was about to sign on to play Oswald Cobblepot in one of Warner Brothers’ DCEU pictures. Following that, Gad played it all down, explaining that he was just having a bit of fun. Well, now he appears to be at it again.

This time out, the Twitter pic shows Gad at the main DC offices with Jon Berg and Geoff Johns – the co-heads of DC Films. Oh, and what’s that in his hand? That’s a copy of Batman Adventures with none other than The Penguin on the front cover.

Of course, this still doesn’t confirm anything whatsoever, but could it be that Josh Gad may be getting set to appear in an upcoming DC movie, or is he just yanking our chains and having some fun once again?

As well as Matt Reeves’ The Batman, David Ayer has the female-centric Gotham City Sirens on the way, Joss Whedon is writing and directing Batgirl, and there’s also Nightwing happening as well. If we did see The Penguin appear in any upcoming film, chances are it’d be one of these Bat-based ones.

For now, your guess is as good as ours on this, but expect to hear more on any further developments as and when they happen.
