In some major news, Marvel Studios has found a director – well, directors – for their Brie Larson-headlined Captain Marvel.

The studio has announced that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will be directing the picture, with the pair best known for 2015’s Mississippi Grind and the Ryan Gosling-starring Half Nelson. Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman are penning the script, with Kevin Feige to produce.

The character of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel will debut in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War, with her then confirmed for her own March 2019 movie.

For those not familiar with Danvers, she debuted way back in 1968, initially depicted as a member of the US Air Force before later becoming Ms. Marvel in 1977 following a previous tangle with explosive Kree technology. In 2012, Danvers was given a “promotion” to the mantle of Captain Marvel and has since seen a huge rise in her popularity and prominence in the Marvel comic book realm, as witnessed with the recent Civil War II. As part of her powers, she’s able to project and absorb energy as well as having the usual superhuman strength and spend not to mention the ability to fly.
