With Star Wars: The Last Jedi on the way later this year, Disney is already looking at what lies ahead after this latest Star Wars trilogy comes to an end.

Speaking at a USC presentation, Disney CEO Bob Iger explained that they’re currently planning the next 15 years of trips to a galaxy far, far away. As per The Hollywood Reporter, Iger said, “We’re starting talk about what could happen after Episode IX. About what could be another decade-and-a-half of Star Wars stories.”

Moving on to discuss how Carrie Fisher’s sudden and tragic passing last year will not impact Leia’s The Last Jedi role, Iger added, “We had to deal with tragedy at the end of 2016. Carrie appears throughout VIII. We are not changing VIII to deal with her passing. Her performance remains as it is in VIII. In Rogue One, we had some digital character. We are not doing that with Carrie.”

So, with Star Wars: The Last Jedi set for December 15th and Episode IX set for May 2019, it looks as if we can expect plenty of Star Wars movies for years to come following those final two legs of this latest cinematic trilogy.
