He may have thrown his weight behind the awful APOLLO 18 and this month's THE DARKEST HOUR (reviewed here and here) but Russian auteur Timur Bekmambetov is not letting these ill-advised endeavours put him off producing.

The director also has ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER on the way later this year and has picked up the rights to ONE HUNDRED PERCENT LUNAR BOY - the second novel in twenty years by Dogbowl (aka Stephen Tunney) - through his Bazelevs production company.

The novel concerns a sixteen year old boy who grew up on the moon named Hieronymous. As a result of this he has a special ability to see in an extra dimension of colour and also see the future path of time and matter. Things get complicated when he meets a girl who sees the true colour of his eyes and this threatens his entire existence. So yes, it’s completely bugnuts.

This seems to have all the earmarks of an ‘unfilmable’ book to me, nonetheless Bekmambetov has hired screenwriter Edward Ricourt to adapt the novel. Whether the Russian director will make it as his next directorial project is unclear but it sounds like it’s right up his alley.

Now, anyone heard of this Dogbowl character?
