Where the Marvel Cinematic Universe is concerned, it seems anything is a possibility when it comes to what movies Marvel Studios and Disney are going to dish up next. But still, could Groot get his own film down the line? Vin Diesel certainly thinks so…

Diesel, of course, is the man responsible for providing a whole variety of “I am Groot” lines for James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. The actor will be back to voice Groot in April’s Guardians sequel, and he’ll also be present when the team join with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in next May’s Avengers: Infinity War.

When asked by MTV International about the potential for a Groot solo movie, Diesel said, “It’s something that James Gunn has talked about and it’s something that I know he would love to do. Sure, I think it could be very interesting. I think it’s inevitable. You know, that character is so enigmatic and he was already one of the most unique characters in the Marvel universe. And I think what Marvel has done, primarily what James Gunn has done, has started to realise that character and he’s exceeded beyond expectations. I think he’s just such an interesting character and there’s so much to learn about him. And I’d love to go back to this planet and learn more about him and I think the world would. He’s really a genius on a lot of levels, it’s just that we can only hear him say ‘I am Groot’ because of our sophistication level, not his.”

Vin Diesel’s Groot will be next seen when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits cinemas on April 28th.
