THE FLASH Undergoing a Page One Rewrite

It seems as if Warner Brothers’ The Flash has hit yet some more problems.

Previously, the Ezra Miller-starrer had a script in place from then-director Seth Grahame-Smith. When Grahame-Smith departed the project, Rick Famuyiwa was placed in the director’s chair and another script was put in place. Of course, Famuyiwa left the film over the ever-familiar “creative differences” towards the end of last year, and now comes word that Warners have decided to do a complete overhaul of the screenplay altogether.

Variety is reporting that Joby Harold has been hired to do a “page-one rewrite” of The Flash, which effectively means that the screenplay is starting from scratch once more. Harold has recently wrote the upcoming duo of King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and Robin Hood, both of which are Warner Brothers movies.

The Flash was originally planned for an early 2018 release, but that now looks unlikely. Also, star Ezra Miller is getting set to start work on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2, which is due for a November 2018 release. That means that The WB has a little bit of time to work on their new script for The Flash.

As well as Miller on board as Barry Allen, The Flash has Kiersey Clemons signed up as Iris West, and Billy Crudup is playing Barry’s father, Henry Allen. At this stage, though, the Sultan of Speed-centric effort has yet to find itself a new director following Famuyima’s departure.

Whilst his own movie may well be a little up in the air right now, Miller’s Scarlet Speedster will be next seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League when that hits screens this November.
