EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE Remake in Development

Movie News

It feels like barely a week goes by where we don’t get a remake, reboot, redo or reimagining announced. Last week it was White Men Can’t Jump that was revealed as getting the remake treatment, and this week it’s the turn of 1978’s Every Which Way but Loose.

Deadline revealed the news, and the outlet reports that The Sex Trip’s Anthony Cohen will be directing. James Fargo, director of the original Clint Eastwood-starrer, is on board to produce.

The original 1978 picture saw Eastwood’s trucker Philo Beddoe teaming with an orangutan called Clyde. Getting up to all sorts of fun and shenanigans as they traverse the highway, the film brought in $85 million from a $5 million budget. And in fairness, having an orangutan giving people the middle finger and then punching them in the chops had us sold.

The early world is that the Every Which Way but Loose remake is looking to start production this Spring.
