New Rumour on Spidey's Love Interest in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING

In comic book lore, Mary Jane Watson has often been synonymous with Peter Parker when it comes to Spider-Man's love interest. Then there’s the camp who see Gwen Stacy as Peter’s one true. Now, with Spider-Man: Homecoming on the horizon, fans are wondering just who will be the love interest when Spidey swings back to the big screen next July. Well Latino Review has an update on just that very topic.

Previously, rumours have suggested that Zendaya’s lead role of ‘Michelle’ will actually end up being revealed to be that of Mary Jane. Those stories, however, seemed to be shot down last week when the actress/singer explained how her character is a “very dry, awkward, intellectual” who comes off as “very weird”. LR’s new report, though, is claiming that it will actually be Liz Allan who’ll be catching the eye of Holland’s Wall-crawler in Homecoming. In the movie, Allan will be played by Laura Hallier, and a romance will reportedly bloom between she and Peter Parker.

Comic book-wise, Liz was one of Peter’s earliest loves, although that wasn’t always the case. Initially, she was the girlfriend of Flash Thompson, and she was depicted as one of the popular kids who would often mock Parker. Over time, Liz began to fall for Peter, and the two would become a relatively short-lived item. Further down the line, Liz would become Liz Allan Osborn after she married the troubled Harry Osborn. The pair would have a child named Normie, although Harry’s ongoing battle with his madness ended in his death.

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland’s Web-head and Laura Harrier’s Liz Allan will be joined by the likes of Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark/Iron Man, Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes/Vulture, Michael Chernus’ Phineas Mason/Tinkerer.

To be directed by Cop Car’s Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently set for a July 7th release.
