Following months of speculation, Donald Glover will indeed be playing the young Lando Calrissian in Disney’s upcoming Han Solo-centric movie.

The film itself, which will be the second ‘Star Wars Story’ effort – the first of which is this December’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – will centre on a young Han Solo as we find out how he became the scruffy-looking nerf-herder that audiences were introduced to in Mos Eisley back in 1977. Hail, Caesar!’s Alden Ehrenreich is on board to play the young Han, and now Lucasfilm has officially announced that Atlanta and Community’s Glover will be joining him as Lando. In the film, Lando will be a “scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld”. As well as Han and Lando, this upcoming feature will also include everyone's favourite walking carpet, Chewbacca.

The LEGO Movie’s Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be directing this second Star Wars Story film, with the directorial duo stating on this new addition, “We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us. These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologise to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”

Lando Calrissian was, of course, famously played by Billy Dee Williams in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. This currently-untitled Solo-centric movie is set for a May 25th, 2018 release.
