Movie News

We’ve known for a while now that James Mangold’s Logan would be featuring X-23, the young female Wolverine clone, and now comes some news on just who may be playing this fan favourite character.

The Wrap is reporting that Daddy’s Home’s Sienna Novikov has landed the X-23 gig, although nothing official has been confirmed on that front just yet. At first, it was suggested that Novikov may be involved as a stunt performer due to her background in gymnastics and fencing, but now the outlet is reporting that she is indeed playing Laura Kinney, aka X-23.

Elsewhere, there are now conflicting reports on Mister Sinister. When an Essex Corp. briefcase turned up in the X-Men: Apocalypse’s post-credits sting, many longstanding X-fans were hoping that would lead to the big screen bow of Nathaniel Essex, aka Mister Sinister. The comic book Sinister is a crazed scientist with a penchant for cloning and evolution. Despite the audio commentary for Apocalypse seemingly confirming Mister Sinister for Logan, now comes word that the rogue will not be appearing in Wolverine’s next outing. We’ll wait and see on that front, though…

In addition to all of this, there’s also now an update on the mystery roles to be played by Richard E. Grant and Boyd Holbrook. Previously, certain stories suggested that Grant may actually end up playing the aforementioned Mister Sinister, but now it’s been revealed that the Withnail and I actor will be playing Dr. Zander Rice, a no-good scientist involved in the cloning element of Logan. As for Holbrook, he’ll be playing Donald Pierce, a former member of the villainous Hellfire Club and now the leader of the mutant cyborg group known as The Reavers. Both Dr. Rice and Pierce will be working together throughout the film.

To be directed by The Wolverine’s James Mangold, Logan is currently shooting ahead of a March 3rd, 2017 release.
