MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Prequel on the Way?

Movie News

All has certainly been a little uncertain when it comes to the future of the Mad Max franchise. First, it was believed that Mad Max: Fury Road was the start of a new trilogy, then came word that there would be a spin-off movie based on Charlize Theron’s Furiosa, and then there was some news on some sort of prequel effort. That was all rocked by director George Miller then stating earlier this year that he didn’t want to make any further Mad Max movies, full stop. Well now comes an interesting update of sorts on what’s next for the franchise…

Australia’s Herald Sun is reporting that a Fury Road prequel is a definite ‘thing’ and that shooting on said film could start before the end of 2016.

The outlet says, “The prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road starring Tom Hardy will be filmed in and around Broken Hill… Pre-production is gearing up on the multi-million dollar action-packed Warner Bros franchise, with NSW’s Broken Hill Studios Miller’s first choice for shooting, which could start as soon as later this year.”

There’s nothing official from Warner Brothers on this right now, and Miller hasn’t commented on the future of the franchise much lately bar stating how a hot, desert-set shoot is the last thing he wants to be doing.

As ever, expect more on this as and when we get it.
