The upcoming Pacific Rim sequel has found its female lead.

Variety has word that singer/actress Cailee Spaeny will be taking the top female role in Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, joining John Boyega and Scott Eastwood in the film.

Details are still a little sketchy on the plot of the sequel, although Boyega will be playing the son of Idris Elba’s character from the original movie.

Steven S. DeKnight is helming Maelstrom, with the movie currently set for a February 23rd, 2018 release.
