Movie News

These past few years have seen Jason Clarke land some pretty major projects, and now comes word that the actor has joined upcoming supernatural thriller Winchester.

CBS Films has moved to officially announce Clarke as part of the project, with him taking on a lead role in a movie based around the legendary Winchester mystery house. The Zero Dark Thirty, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Terminator: Genisys actor joins Dame Helen Mirren on the film.

On this news, directors Michael and Peter Spierig said, “Jason Clarke is an extremely talented actor and we look forward to seeing him face off against Dame Helen Mirren as well as any vengeful spirits that might be lurking about the Winchester house.”

Winchester follows Mirren’s firearm heiress Sarah Winchester as she struggles to deal with being haunted by the souls and spirits of those killed at the hands of the famed Winchester repeating rifle. Once her husband and child suddenly die, Sarah dedicates all of her time to building a huge mansion in order to keep the evil locked out. Clarke’s psychiatrist Eric Price is sent to evaluate her, but he soon realises that maybe Sarah Winchester is not as insane as was believed as the secrets of one of the most haunted locations in the world start to unravel.

As ever, expect more on Winchester as it develops.
