Mister Sinister Confirmed for WOLVERINE 3

Many had hoped for it, and now it’s been confirmed: the villainous Mister Sinister will be a part of Wolverine 3.

Following the post-credits scene in this year’s X-Men: Apocalypse, longtime comic book fans had taken the “Essex Corp” reveal as tying to fan favourite bad guy Nathaniel Essex/Mister Sinister, although producer Simon Kinberg quickly moved to throw doubt over just what that post-credits stinger meant and also which particular movie it could have repercussions for. Well the guys at Cinema Blend have managed to discover, courtesy of Apocalypse’s home release chatter track with Kinberg and Bryan Singer, that Mister Sinister will indeed be turning up in Wolverine 3.

Wolverine 3 is already shooting and has quite the impressive cast in place, with so many of the movie’s cast playing "mystery" roles. What we do know is that Boyd Holbrook and Richard E. Grant are on board in supposedly villainous roles, with Grant’s role previously being reported to be that of a mad scientist of sorts. Given how Sinister himself is often depicted as a deranged scientist who is obsessed with evolution and cloning, it could well be that we see Richard E. Grant playing this hugely popular rogue. That’s merely speculation on our part, though.

One other thing that we know about Wolverine 3 is that Hugh Jackman’s Logan will be joined in his battle against The Reavers, Weapon X, and seemingly now Mister sinister, by X-23, a young female clone of Wolverine. Chances are that the Apocalypse post-credits scene snagging of some Wolvie blood by Essex Corp types will tie Sinister to X-23.

To be directed by The Wolverine’s James Mangold, Wolverine 3, which marks the last appearance of Jackman as the Canucklehead, is currently set for a March 3rd, 2017 release.
