Max Landis Remaking AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON?

Movie News

Make of this what you will, but Max Landis is seemingly underway on remaking one of his pops’ movies. Even more intriguing, speculation suggests that the movie in question could well be An American Werewolf in London.

Taking to Twitter, Max revealed, “Since I get the question all the time: There’s only one of my dad’s movies I’d ever be willing to try to remake and I’m already going it.”

Max’s legendary father, John Landis, is responsible for classics such as The Blues Brothers, Trading Places, Coming to America, ¡Three Amigos! and, of course, the aforementioned An American Werewolf in London. As for Landis Jr., Max is best known for writing the likes of Chronicle, Victor Frankenstein and for creating the Dirk Gently TV series.

On the back of this tease, Bloody-Disgusting has picked up on some previous comments from Max, particularly him saying how he’s working on an upcoming project that was codenamed Moors. Given how so much of An American Werewolf in London is set on the Moors – after all, “Keep clear of the moors” is regularly spouted throughout the film – all indicators seem to point towards Max tacking a redo of the iconic 1981 werewolf picture that starred David Naughton, Griffin Dunne and Jenny Agutter.

This isn’t the first time that stories of an American Werewolf in London remake have surfaced, with a redo previously in development back in 2009. That project ultimately fell apart, though.

As ever, expect more on all of this as and when it develops.
