Following previous reports that Creed’s Tessa Thompson was joining Thor: Ragnarok, there’s now confirmation on what role she’ll be playing in the film, not to mention news on some other new additions.

Marvel Studios has officially moved to reveal that Thompson will be joined by Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban and, as previously reported, Cate Blanchett. Thompson will be playing the heroic Valkyrie, Goldblum will be playing the elaborate and eccentric Grandmaster, Urban will be playing Asgardian meathead Skurge, and Blanchett will indeed be playing Hela, the Asgardian Goddess of Death and ruler of the realm’s version of Hell. Additionally, there’s also been official word that, again as previously reported, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk is another who’ll be a part of the Son of Odin’s next outing.

On this news, Marvel’s Kevin Feige said, “The continuation of the epic Thor franchise will be powerful and unique, and with the additions of Cate, Jeff, Tessa, Karl, and Mark to the cast we have the makings of his most dangerous and heroic adventure yet. The sheer, raw talent each of these actors brings to the screen can’t be qualified. Having any one of the join the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be an honour, and having all of them is incredible.”

As well as these new additions, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Idris Elba’s Heimdall, Anthony Hopkins’ Odin, and Jaimie Alexander’s Sif are all returning to join Chris Hemsworth’s Thunder God. It’s also believed that the Warriors Three – Ray Stevenson’s Volstagg, Zachary Levi’s Fandral, and Tadanobu Asano’s Hogun – will be returning for the film.

To be directed by the brilliant Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok is currently set for a November 3rd, 2017 release.
