Remember that awesome concept art for Neill Blomkamp’s Alien 5? Remember how any chance of that film happening was crushed thanks to Ridley Scott and his Prometheus sequel? Well, it appears that there could still be a chance of us seeing Blomkamp’s Alien movie at some point, and we’ve also been given some more concept art for the film.

In terms of Alien 5 still happening, Sigourney Weaver suggested that we’ll definitely get the film eventually, just maybe not soon. As reported by Aggressive Comix, Weaver said, “Ridley asked Neill not to make our Alien til after Prometheus 2. He wanted his movie to shoot and be released first. But it’s an amazing script, and Neill and I are really excited about doing it. We’re doing other things until we can get going on that. I’d be really surprised if we didn’t do it, because it’s such a great script, and we love working together. So, it’s just going to take a little bit longer to get out to you, but it’ll be worth the wait.”

Elsewhere, Michael Biehn has revealed that as well as Hicks returning for Alien 5, we’d also get a 27-year-old version of Newt from Aliens. When we actually get to see these returns, though, is the big question.

At present, Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel, now titled Alien: Covenant, is shooting in Australia ahead of an October 2017 release. Scott has previously talked about how he has plans for at least one further movie in the series, so it remains to be seen whether that actually happens and, if so, whether that also puts the brakes on Blomkamp’s Alien 5 moving forward once more.

As for that new concept art we mentioned, Neill Blomkamp took to his Instagram account to share the below look at his vision for Newt:
