DICK TRACY Sequel Planned?

In 1990, the primary coloured adventures of the legendary comic strip character Dick Tracy frazzled the retinas of many a cinema goer. Warren Beatty directed and starred as the titular detective, who battled his arch nemesis crime boss Alphonse 'Big Boy' Caprice (played by Al Pacino who hammed it up to a whole new level), whilst he tried to woo his sweetheart Tess Truehart and flirted with disaster in the curvaceous form of Madonna as Breathless Mahoney.

Despite mixed reviews the film was a hit and now, over a quarter of a century later, Beatty has announced that a sequel could be coming. When quizzed about a follow-up at CinemaCon, the legendary Beatty claimed, "I'm serious about it, but I am slow about these things."

Producer Arnom Milcham has also suggested that a new Dick Tracy adventure could be hitting multiplexes within two years.

It will be interesting to see if bright canary yellow trench coats catch on this time around.
