With the long-mooted sequel to Ridley Scott’s seminal 1982 Blade Runner now in development, the film is in talks to bring in Golden Globe winner Robin Wright. In fact, Alcon Entertainment have revealed that Wright is in final negotiations to join the sequel.
No details are known on just what sort of role the House of Cards actress will play in the movie, although she’ll be joining a cast that includes Ryan Gosling and the returning Harrison Ford. Sicario’s Denis Villeneuve is on board to direct, with principal photography scheduled to start in July.
All that we know plot-wise about Blade Runner 2 is that it will be set several decades after the first movie and that Ford is back as Rick Deckard. And that’s it. That’s literally it in terms of what information is being made available on the film at this stage.
Blade Runner 2 is currently penciled in for a January 2018 release.
