Rumour on Stallone's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 Role

Movie News

With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 now shooting, some details are coming out on a role for Sylvester Stallone and also another appearance from a familiar face. It goes without saying, but we’re veering into potential spoiler territory here. You’ve been warned…

Whilst there’s not been any official confirmation on Stallone being involved in Guardians 2, the actor has recently been photographed heading towards the set with a script in his grasp. Now comes some fun news on what his role in the film could well be. On Location Vacations reports, courtesy of one of their sources, that Stallone does indeed have a role in Guardians 2 and that his costume “looks a lot like Judge Dredd.” Given how Dredd is very much a 2000 AD character and somebody who most definitely could not be able to appear in the film, it could well be that Stallone is playing a member of the Nova Corps who just so happens to have a mighty similar outfit to Dredd. So whilst the actor definitely won’t be playing Judge Dredd, this seems like it’ll just be a nice nod and wink type scenario for certain parts of the fanbase.

Additionally, it’s also being reported that a scene was shot last week that includes Howard the Duck, a character briefly glimpsed in the post-credits scene of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. No details on what role the Dark Mallard of the Night will have to play in James Gunn’s sequel, but expect it to be a small one.

As well as the returning Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, and Michael Rooker, Guardians 2 will also feature new additions in the shape of Kurt Russell, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, and Chris Sullivan.

At present, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set for a May 5th, 2017 release.
