Movie News

In some interesting news, it appears that the long-mooted big screen adaptation of Where’s Wally? (or Where’s Waldo?, to our North American cousins) is finally happening.

The Tracking Board is reporting that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will be producing the movie for MGM under their Point Grey banner. An adaptation of the classic Where’s Wally/Waldo? outings has been in development for years now, with the likes of Paramount, Nickelodeon, and Universal Pictures all attempting to get something off the ground before ultimately giving up on the project.

First published in 1987 as the brainchild of illustrator Martin Handford, the Where’s Wally? books went on to achieve huge success all across the globe. The simple premise was that readers have to find Wally - decked out in a red and white jumper, matching hat, and some specs – in a crowded landscape. So simple, yet so genius in its simplicity, the books appealed to a wide variety of readers of all ages.

Rogen and Goldberg’s Point Grey is to produce AMC’s Preacher series, which is due to debut later this year, and then it appears that the focus will switch to finding Wally.

As ever, expect more on this and when it develops.
