Movie News

20th Century Fox are set to adapt Cullen Bunn and Vanesa R. Del Rey’s The Empty Man for the big screen.

Deadline is reporting that the studio will be adapting the tale as part of their first look deal with Boom! Studios, and it’s said that David Prior is on board to write and direct. Prior is best known for putting together some excellent bonus content for releases of the likes of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Zodiac and The Social Network. This will be Prior’s feature film directorial debut. The Empty Man follows Boom’s Malignant Man, The Foundation, Imagine Agents and Lumberjanes as being in development at Fox.

Initially released in 2014, the official blurb on The Empty Man reads:

“It’s been one year since the first reported case of the Empty Man disease, and no drug has been able to slow its progress. The cause is unknown, and the symptoms include fits of rage, hideous hallucinations, suicidal dementia, followed by death, or a near lifeless, “empty” state of catatonia. As murder cults rise nationwide, the FBI and CDC enter a joint investigation of the Empty Man, hoping to piece together clues to stop the cult and uncover a cure.”

As ever, expect more on this horror as it develops.
