New Line Cinema have hired Todd Strauss-Schulson (A VERY HAROLD & KUMAR CHRISTMAS) to direct their new horror/comedy script FINAL GIRLS.

The movie revolves around a group of young girls who are find themselves trapped in an 80’s slasher movie that starred one of their mothers, a former scream queen. Happens more than you think.

Newcomers Mark Fortin & Josh Miller have pitched their screenplay as BACK TO THE FUTURE meets FRIDAY THE 13TH. But we’d argue STAY TUNED or PLEASANTVILLE would be a more apt example than BTTF.

To those unfamiliar, the term ‘Final Girl’ relates to the movie trope of the lone female survivor at the end of many slasher movies, usually after she’s kicked the villains ass. See HALLOWEEN (pictured), ALIEN, SCREAM, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE... the list is endless.

Sounds like good, silly fun to us! But where's our ultimate Final Girl movie, the long-promised HACK/SLASH adaptation?

We’ll have more news on this as it develops…

I was drawn to this immediately because of ms Curtis. She is awesome! This movie doesnt hold much promise for me, but maybe that is good. If i go watch it with no real expectations, maybe it might blow me away. "I hope."
