STAR WARS: EPISODE VIII Delayed

Whilst Star Wars: The Force Awakens is busy breaking all kinds of box office records, it appears that we’ll have to wait a little longer than first expected to see Episode VIII.

To be directed by Rian Johnson, Episode VIII was originally planned for a May 26th, 2017 release, but Disney has now pushed the film back by 7 months, meaning it’ll hit the big screen on December 15th, 2017 instead. To soften the blow (or some would say increase it), the studio has given that May release date to Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

No specific reason has been given for Episode VIII’s delay, although we do know that a screenplay is already in place, the film is in pre-production, and principal photography is due to start in London next month.

As for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it's already the highest grossing film of all time in the US, and it looks like it’s well on its way to becoming the highest grossing film globally too, with its current worldwide box office haul sitting at over $1.8 billion.
