Glenn Frey, co-founder of the band The Eagles has passed away at the age of 67 at his home in New York due to complications resulting from surgery in November.

A winner of six Grammy Awards and five American Music Awards, Mr. Frey’s iconic singing and guitar playing entertained audiences with The Eagles selling over 120 million albums worldwide.

Co-founder Don Henley and Mr. Frey met when singer Linda Ronstadt hired them as a backup band for a tour in 1973. Mr. Frey and Mr. Henley got together with Joe Walsh and other band members forming The Eagles releasing their first album a few years later with major success.

Iconic songs include Smuggler’s Blues, Hotel California, Take It Easy, Tequila Sunrise, and several songs that were used in TV/film to immense success such as The Heat Is On (from Beverly Hills Cop) and You Belong to the City (Miami Vice) and many more.

When the band broke up in 1980, Frey started a successful solo career commenting that The Eagles would get back together when hell freezes over. In 1994, the band members reconciled their differences and created the Hell Freezes Over Tour, performing to sold out crowds all over the world.

Frey also added acting to his list of achievements, appearing in an episode of Miami Vice, the short-lived Sunset Grill television series, Jerry Maguire, and Let’s Get Harry.

A successful singer and performer who will be missed, STARBURST sends our good thoughts out to his family, fans and friends.
