Robert Loggia who was in such memorable films as the 1983 version of Scarface, Independence Day and Big has left us.

Born Salvatore Loggia was born in New York City on January 3, 1930. After completing high school, he took an interest in acting where he honed his craft over the years enlisting in the Unites States army. After leaving the service, Mr. Loggia worked on Broadway in several plays where his first big break in television was the soap opera, Search for Tomorrow.

His theatrical credits include the science fiction thriller, The Lost Missile, Ed McBain's 87th Precinct detective film, Cop Hater, The Ninth Configuration, David Lynch’s Lost Highway, plus Blake Edwards’ S.O.B. and the Pink Panther series. In Big, during the classic dance scene in the FAO Schwarz toy store, doubles were going to replace Mr. Loggia and Tom Hanks. Mr. Loggia refused to have them do it and he and Mr. Hanks did the scene together in one take. It’s now become one of the most memorable scenes in film history.

Television appearances include the classic T.H.E. Cat series where he played a reformed cat burglar turned detective, The Bionic Woman, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Wild, Wild West, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Columbo, Magnum P.I., and Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

A remarkable, talented actor who loved to work and please the audience with the wide assortment of characters he portrayed, he will be sadly missed.

STARBURST sends our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family.
