Movie News

In news that will surely send Starburst Editor Mike Royce into a full-on rage-induced meltdown, TWILIGHT star Kristen Stewart has reportedly been offered the role of Kei in the recently greenlit live-action AKIRA movie.

No official announcements have been made beyond the fact that Jaume Collet-Serra (ORPHAN) will direct and Steve Kloves (HARRY POTTER) is handling screenwriting duties, but other names under consideration at the moment include Keira Knightley, Gary Oldman, and Helena Bonham Carter. Garrett Hedlund (TRON: LEGACY) is still thought to be in the front-running to portray Kaneda.

What with next year's SNOW WHITE & THE HUNTSMAN (watch the trailer here) and now this, we're hoping Stewart is finally on a path to shake off the Bella baggage and prove to the world she has a second facial expression aside from 'mope'.
