Movie News

After the huge box office takings* of the mind-bogglingly dull RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE 3D, production marches forward on yet another installment.

Milla Jovovich revealed on Twitter that the plans are to shoot the fifth entry in Japan, an odd decision considering, y’know, the catastrophic earthquakes and stuff?

Milla tweeted: "I pray 4 Japan everyday and I can't wait 2 go there and shoot the next Re!"

I’m sure they’ll be ecstatic to see you too, Milla.

I can hardly believe I’m about to type this, but I’m actually saddened they aren’t going with the previously rumoured reboot route. Paul W. S. Anderson’s franchise is now so unrecognizable compared to the original source material that it’s surely time for somebody else to have a go and return the story to its roots. 90 minutes of Milla performing sub-par MATRIX action-riffs doesn't hold a candle to the horror aesthetic of even the first RE videogame in 1996.

*an astounding $290 million worldwide!

Still a fan of this franchise, or would you rather see somebody else take the RESIDENT EVIL reigns? Let us know in the comments below!

Love Milla, and her character in Resident. Its the story that needs a little re-jigging, and yes to revisit its routes. There is a reason this series of films have been successful, and Milla is a big part of that.

When a flop movie is redone, I see the reasoning in trying to get it right if the bones are there. But playing around with an already established hit...why ruin a good thing. Eventually like all things it will get recycled, but right thanks.

Getting a actress with Milla's talent, and raw emotions that come across so beautifully on screen, would be a tough job. We have our girl, so no teeny boppers for now. Thanks.

These are some of my favorite mindless fun action films. I can't wait to see more of them :)

It's easy to forget, but the original Resident Evil had this stunningly cheesy intro:

Long live this style, it just suits the games so much, films should follow suit!

Have to say I really enjoy these movies in a 'guilt pleasure' way; I thought 'Afterlife' was a great romp and I' forward to the next one.

This series of films should be absolutely cheesy as hell.
Carry on Horror, should get Babs Windsor on board!

Love the games, enjoyed but never a huge fan of the series of films. I think that a re-boot was definitely the way to go, it's not as if everyone else isn't doing it...
