It seems that since his motion captured take on YELLOW SUBMARINE went belly up director Robert Zemeckis has attached himself to a whole number of films without any actual forward momentum on any of them.

Now Imagemovers, Zemeckis’ production house, has hired Chad Damiani and JP Lavin to adapt the book by Chuck Sambuchino HOW TO SURVIVE A GARDEN GNOME ATTACK as a possible directing vehicle for Zemeckis. The intent is to make it an edgy PG-13 kid friendly horror with a definite emphasis on scares. This could be Zemeckis’ return to live action filmmaking along with one of the other projects he has taken on in the last couple of months.

The writers only other credit is an adaptation of kid toy line MAX STEEL that never happened for Paramount Pictures. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing we're not sure, but the prospect of garden gnomes turning on their cruel human masters certainly sounds like Zemeckis is heading back into TALES FROM THE CRYPT and DEATH BECOMES HER territory. And that can only be a good thing.
