With work now underway on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, a familiar face has been brought back into the fold: Orlando Bloom.

The return of Bloom’s Will Turner was announced as this past weekend’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, where Johnny Depp took to the stage in full Jack Sparrow getup. As for the character of Will Turner, he appeared in the first three Pirates movies and was last seen as Captain of The Dutchman, an ethereal vessel that takes souls to the afterlife.

As well as Depp and Bloom, this latest installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise will also see Geoffrey Rush’s Barbossa returning. In terms of new faces, the big bad of the film will be Captain Salazar, played by the Oscar-winning Javier Bardem. The Maze Runner’s Kaya Scodelario and Maleficent’s Brenton Thwaites are the other announced new faces.

To be directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is currently set for a July 7th, 2017 release.
