Gene Wilder to Voice Spielberg's BFG?

Movie News

Steven Spielberg has been developing a new take on Roald Dahl’s classic BFG for a fair while now, and the legendary director has apparently made overtures to Gene Wilder to provide the voice of the Big Friendly Giant.

AICN is reporting the news, with it believed that Spielberg has approached Wilder to come out of retirement for the gig. Having made a huge name for himself with the likes of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, Wilder’s roles started to dry up in the late-‘90s before he effectively retired in 2003, turning down any offers that have come his way since.

Part of this new story claims that a meeting has already been arranged between Spielberg and Wilder, with some suggestion that it’s already actually taken place. The film itself is currently aiming for a 2016 release.

As ever, expect more on this as and when it develops.
