Movie News

In some rather pleasing news, it looks as if Benicio Del Toro could very well be being lined up to play the villain in Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII.

The Wrap is reporting that the actor, best known for roles in the likes of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Usual Suspects, Che, The Wolfman and Guardians of the Galaxy, has received an offer from Disney to take on the role of the big bad of Episode VIII.

Details on Episode VIII are super sketchy at this stage, mainly down to seeing how things play out in J.J. Abrams’ Episode VII: The Force Awakens when that arrives later this year.

To be written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: Episode VIII is currently scheduled for a May 26th, 2017 release. Abrams’ The Force Awakens arrives this December 18th.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
