Movie News

Cast your minds back dear readers to 2003 and Eli Roth was hyped as “The Future of Horror” thanks to his low budget debut CABIN FEVER. When the film eventually came out amidst much hype, it was a fun little flick with plenty of gruesome moments but hardly life changing. A sequel was discussed and eventually directed by Ti West (HOUSE OF THE DEVIL) unfortunately due to studio interference the compromised but very gory film went straight to DVD with little fanfare, the franchise was presumed dead.

But hang on a second, a production house called The Indomina Group have purchased the franchise rights and are planning two sequels to be filmed in the Dominican Republic. The titles are: CABIN FEVER: PATIENT ZERO and CABIN FEVER: OUTBREAK. Jake Wade Well (THE HITCHER, WHEN A STRANGER CALLS) will be writing the first (essentially the third) which involves a cruise liner colliding with a scientific research ship and unleashing the deadly virus. The next (essentially the fourth) will be written by Adam and Deborah Marcus (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 3D) and follows a doctor and his family on a remote Caribbean island where the virus has taken hold.

The films will be shot back to back and will be headed to a DVD shelf near you some time in 2012. Ooooh exciting…

I did like the original first movies, and the idea of another 2 additions isnt a complete turn off. But the proof will be in the watching for sure.
