Movie News

LIVID (or LIVIDE to give it its official title) is the second film from French directors Alexandre Bustillo & Julien Maury, whose debut feature INSIDE (aka A L'INTERIEUR) back in '07 made horror fans sit up and take notice. Primarily known for its unflinching violence and gore quota, it was easy for audiences to miss out on the fact it's also a masterclass in suspense and genuinely frightening piece of cinema.

With the rest of France's horror filmmakers heading to Hollywood at the first chance - we're looking at you FRONTIER(S) director Xavier Gans, SWITCHBLADE ROMANCE's Alexandre Aja, and MARTYRS' Pascal Laugier - it's refreshing to see Bustillo & Maury have resisted the temptation and remained in their homeland for their second movie, LIVID. (Just think guys, you too could have remade MIRRORS!)

Early buzz tells us that this film is scary as all hell, though isn't at all reliant on the same 'extreme' horror that INSIDE so unrelentingly doled out. Check out the excellent trailer and see what you think...

And here's the official synopsis...

"'It's young Lucy's first day as a trainee in-house caregiver. She visits Mrs Jessel, an old woman who lies in cerebral coma, by herself, in her large desolate house. Learning by accident that Mrs Jessel, a former dance teacher of repute, supposedly possesses a treasure somewhere in the house, Lucy and friends William and Ben decide to search the house in the hope of finding it. At night, they get into the house, which reveals itself to be increasingly peculiar. Their hunt for Mrs Jessel’s treasure leads them into a horrifying supernatural series of events that will change Lucy forever..."

The only thing to possibly be LIVID about is that the film still awaits an overseas release, but we're confident that will change soon. Those lucky enough to live in its native France can check it out on November 2nd when it hits cinemas there.

This i know will scare me senseless, for naturally its what i am looking for. Inside was every thing i wanted and it pulled it off so perfectly, and hidieously as it should have. That shook me like a rag doll!

This horror seems to be no less terriyfing, and much more of a scare fest. Will need some one to sit by me and be more amazingly freaked out then me, so i feel better about being a wimp. :)
