Movie News

Yesterday we brought word that Warner Brothers was supposedly closed to signing up Chris Pine as Hal Jordan and Tyrese Gibson as John Stewart in their DC Cinematic Universe. Rapper-turned-actor Gibson has only intensified the speculation…

Firstly Gibson spoke to Entertainment Tonight, teasing, “There are certain things I can’t speak on. But I will say, however this works out, it’s definitely the fans’ fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into. I’ve been a fan of Green Lantern. I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We’ll just see what happens.”

Having appeared in a couple of big franchises already – Transformers and Fast & Furious – Gibson went on, “Listen, these muscles are there and they’re ready to be used. There are a lot of people, domestically and internationally, who’s got love with your boy. I’m coming into this thing with some fans and some box office receipts behind my name and I say that proudly and humbly. I just think I deserve a shot at suiting up and becoming the Green Lantern.”

There’s a belief that next month’s San Diego Comic-Con will see Warner Brothers have all of their Justice League assembled… including Green Lantern. When asked if we may see him there, Gibson said, “You never know. I might be there on the other side of an announcement. You never know.”

Adding further to the rumour of Pine as Hal Jordan and Gibson as John Stewart, the actor posted the below picture to his Instagram page:

Accompanying the image was the caption: “Shit just got real - #doubleoath #doubletrouble #GreenLantern #WB #VoltronPictures”

So, what do you think? If you ask us, it’s looking more and more likely that Chris Pine and Tyrese Gibson will be getting their own Green Lantern rings in the near future.
