Chris Pine to Play Hal Jordan? Tyrese Gibson to Play John Stewart?

Movie News

Remember that story about Chris Pine in talks to play Steve Trevor in Warner Brothers’ Wonder Woman? Turns out that Pine’s negotiations may well have been for a far larger DC character.

Latino Review is reporting that Pine is actually being lined up to play the DCCU’s Hal Jordan. This is in addition to news that the WB’s Green Lantern movie will actually feature both the Hal Jordan and John Stewart versions of Green Lantern.

The outlet’s report claims, “Pine was rumoured to be a candidate for Hal Jordan way back when we realised Ryan Reynolds would never float in a green suit again, and the rumours of Pine circling Wonder Woman were actually Pine closing in on the role of Hal Jordan.”

It’s also believed that Warner Brothers currently has plans to assemble all of their Justice League members together at next month's San Diego Comic-Con. Whether that involves just Hal Jordan or both Hal and John Stewart remains to be seen. As for Stewart, current speculation suggests that the Fast & Furious franchise’s Tyrese Gibson is the frontrunner for the role.

In terms of other Justice League members, we’ve already got Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Ezra Miller as The Flash.

The first of Zack Snyder’s two Justice League movies will hit screens in 2017. At the last count, the Green Lantern movie is pencilled in for 2020.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
