Movie News: Warner Bros Keen on Keaton for BEETLEJUICE 2

Movie News

Early last month we reported that Warner Bros are at long-last getting serious about a sequel to the Tim Burton classic BEETLEJUICE. While there was no word on Keaton's involvement, we pointed out just how enthusiastic the actor has been to reprise the role in the past, and rightly pointed out they'd be fools to attempt it without him.

Seems like we needn't have worried, as writer Seth Grahame-Smith has announced that the movie will not go forward without Keaton onboard:

"When Warner Bros. came to us about it, we said the only way wed do it if we got Tim's blessing and involvement, and we got that, and the star of the movie has to be Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice, and its a true continuation 26 years later. Not just throwing him in as a cameo going, 'Hey, its me. I endorse this movie."

So that's Burton in, a true sequel concept confirmed, and they're pursuing Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice. Colour us very happy indeed. But let's not get to ahead of ourselves, the actor has yet to sign on since the screenplay is still being written...

"Were not there yet because we dont have a film to present to him."

Let's hope writer/producers Seth Grahame-Smith can bang out a worthy script to the 1988 original, it's all that stands in our way of seeing The Ghost With The Most back on the big-screen.
