With Jack Huston to play Eric Draven and Jessica Brown Findlay to play Shelly Webster, it looks as if the upcoming remake of The Crow is close to landing its villain.

Deadline is reporting that Birdman’s Andrea Riseborough is in talks to play a female version of Top Dollar, the villain who was played brilliantly by Michael Wincott in Alex Proyas’ 1994 The Crow.

Given how Top Dollar is more of a standard, small-time drug dealer in the original Crow comic book tale, it was at one point thought that the villain of this upcoming redo may be a different character to the rogue who was bumped up to be the ‘big bad’ of the 1994 Brandon Lee-starrer.

This latest adaptation of James O’Barr’s The Crow has yet to be given an official release date at this stage, although Corin Hardy is on board to direct from a script by Cliff Dorfman.

Expect more on this as it develops.
