GREMLINS Remake Gets a Writer

Thought that GREMLINS remake had gone away? Apparently not, for the redo has now found a writer. Carl Ellsworth, best known for penning the LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake and the upcoming GOOSEBUMPS movie, has been brought in to work on the screenplay for GREMLINS.

This remake has been on the cards for years now, although it has stalled and stalled and stalled. At one point there was a GREMLINS 3 discussed, but more recent movements have been towards a complete redo of Joe Dante’s original 1984 film.

As well as Ellsworth now on board, it’s previously been confirmed that original writer Chris Columbus and Steven Spielberg will both be serving as producers on the redo. There’s also rumours that Columbus may even end up directing this time out.

Expect to hear more on this remake as it develops.
