Movie News

In some rather cool news, Variety is reporting that Idris Elba is in early negotiations to play the villain in the upcoming STAR TREK 3. No details are known on who the ‘big bad’ will be at this stage, although the LUTHER, THOR and PACIFIC RIM actor is always a welcome addition to any project.

Already confirmed for this next outing are Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg and Karl Urban. Pegg is also working on the script with Doug Jung, and J.J. Abrams will serve as a producer.

To be directed by Justin Lin, STAR TREK 3 is currently set for a July 8th, 2016 release, which nicely coincides with the franchise’s 50th anniversary.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
