Over ten years ago and fresh off the success of X-MEN, Bryan Singer was linked to the reboot of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Ultimately his interpretation didn’t happen due to the events of 9/11 and we got the awesome Ronald D.Moore version that ran from 2004 until 2009. We all assumed that Singer moved on as he got busy with the new version of SUPERMAN as well as VALKYRIE and the upcoming JACK THE GIANT KILLER.

Apparently post JACK THE GIANT KILLER, Singer had intended to make a new version of the King Arthur legend with the film EXCALIBUR, this has now fallen through with Warner Bros opting to go with another screenplay for their King Arthur film. This has allowed Singer to go straight back to developing BATTLESTAR GALACTICA as he revealed in an interview with The Playlist.

It’s interesting that this project has never gone away. The Ronald D Moore version to me is the definitive version of that story that is still fairly fresh and recent and continues to gain new fans on DVD. What does Singer have up his sleeve with his version that has kept the project alive for so long?
