So GHOSTBUSTERS movies are like buses. You wait from 1989 for one, then two come along at once.

As well as the all-female GHOSTBUSTERS redo that’s on the way for 2016, Deadline is now reporting that another GB film is in the works. This new new film is currently looking to focus on a male team headed up by Channing Tatum. Drew Pearce is developing the film in the hopes of getting the Russo brothers on board to direct. Dan Aykroyd and original director Ivan Reitman are also overseeing this latest project.

On this other new GHOSTBUSTERS movie, Reitman told Deadline, “We want to expand the GHOSTBUSTERS universe in ways that will include different films, TV shows, merchandise, all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment. This is a branded entertainment, a scary supernatural premise mixed with comedy. Paul Feig’s film will be the first version of that, shooting in June to come out in July, 2016. He’s got four of the funniest woman in the world, and there will be other surprises to come. The second film has a wonderful idea that builds on that. Drew will start writing and the hope is to be ready for the Russo brothers’ next window next summer to shoot, with the movie coming out the following year.”

To clarify, Paul Feig’s all-female film, starring Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig, will be hitting screens in July, 2016. Then the current plan is for Anthony and Joe Russo to direct the Channing Tatum-starring movie. The Russos are certainly in high demand at the moment, currently about to move into production on CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR and also being rumoured to be taking over from Joss Whedon when the two-part AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR rolls around.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
