Barbara's Back in Unofficial NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD Sequel

Movie News

George A. Romero’s seminal NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD remains savagely important, both as a horror movie and a political statement, and time has done little to dull its impact. Even dwelling in the hinterland of public domain has only furthered its reputation and influence, with regular sequels, spin-offs and remakes.

But perhaps the most bizarre is the upcoming unofficial sequel NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: GENESIS, starring none other than the original’s Barbara herself, Judith O’Dea. Despite most definitely dying in the 1968 original, GENESIS is told from Barbara’s perspective.

The official synopsis reads, “NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD: GENESIS will pay homage to the timeless classic while expanding upon its storyline to explore more of the night when the dead began to rise.”

If nothing else, it’ll be worth watching just to see O’Dea in undead territory again. 47 years later and they’re still coming to get her.
