With things starting to take shape for Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, now comes word that Rose Byrne will be brought back into the fold as Moira MacTaggert.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, writer/producer Simon Kinberg revealed that MacTaggert is a “significant character in the movie. We ended FIRST CLASS with Charles having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them.”

On the relationship between Moira and Professor X, Kinberg added, “It’s certainly a rich relationship that we started to dig into in FIRST CLASS, and would like to mine more in this one.”

On the film itself, he continued, “[It] is a completion of the first arcs of Charles, Eric, Raven, and Hank, who are essentially our main characters. They’re such young actors and young characters, so there’s a lot more story to tell. But as a first phase of their lives, there is this feeling of closure by the end of the movie.”

Finally, when asked whether the 1980s setting of the film could lend itself to seeing Dazzler appear, he replied, “Could happen. We’re certainly looking at mutants that would fit into the period.”

As well as Rose Byrne returning as Moira MacTaggert, the film will see James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, and Oscar Isaac as the ‘big bad’ of the piece, the titular Apocalypse. Additionally, last week brought word that Alexandra Shipp will be playing the young Storm, Sophie Turner will be the young Jean Grey, and Tye Sheridan will be playing the younger version of Cyclops. It’s also believed that Hugh Jackman will be back as Wolverine and Evan Peters will reprise his show-stealing role as Quicksilver.

X-MEN: APOCALYSE is currently set for a May 27th, 2016 release.
