Movie News

As well as being the star of THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT David Hess also composed the music. His early career was as a song writer/performer - he wrote for Elvis, and his song "Speedy Gonzales" reached no 2 in the UK when performed by Pat Boone.

I met him a few years ago at the Festival of Fantastic Films, and he was a really nice bloke, the total opposite of the heavies and psychos he played. He even performed "Speedy" on acoustic at the end of fest party.

Other credits include SWAMP THING, HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK and the recent horror/comedy SMASH CUT.

He was 69

I met David Hess at the tour when Last House On The Left and Texas Chainsaw Massacre were finally rereleased in the UK. He was a lovely guy.

Very sad news indeed. When I was in Los Angeles, I had the opportunity to see him perform and sing on stage in Sweeney Todd. Afterwards, we went back stage to meet him and the cast and was very nice to everyone.
