Future cult smash hit THE FP doesn’t even have a UK release date yet, but co-director and star Jason Trost already has his next movie in the can. VS joins films such as KICK-ASS, SPECIAL, DEFENDOR and SUPER as the latest in a long line of average Joe becoming a superhero with no powers films. This looks different from that lot though, as it seems to be about some kind of super villain Rickshaw played by James Remar (DEXTER) rigging a city with explosives and placing innocent citizens in death traps around town. Our rag tag bunch of heroes with silly names like Cutthroat, Sledgesaw and Shadow are then dispatched to try and save the city. Kind of like SAW meets KICK-ASS. Sure it looks low budget but watch this trailer and tell me you don’t want to see this right now!

Average Joe superhero films are nearly on a par with found footage films for me now, i.e. I’m bored to the back teeth of them, but this looks refreshing. The film also stars Lucas Till (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS) Sean Whalen and Brian Taylor. VS gets its world premiere at the Toronto After Dark film festival on October 26th.

Though the film doesn’t have a UK distributor yet, expect it to make appearances at a few more festivals and if the buzz is strong it will hopefully get picked up soon-ish.
